After an extensive renovation, fresh paint and blank walls turned into large canvases for the student dining facility on Grand Canyon University's campus. With a variety of dining choices available to students all in one location, the space itself needed more than the fresh coats of paint on the walls. The tenant in the space provided no direction for the project outside of their request that it not look like another cafeteria. The initial concepts focused on making connections between learning and eating, which lead to an accumulation of quotes from famous individuals in history. Combined with textures, images and decorative typography, the large graphics define the space and enhance the dining experience.
Bright, bold colors define the space, giving a sense of place to an otherwise ordinary dining facility.
Specific elements were fabricated to provide texture to the wall graphics as well as foil overlays to integrate light and reflection for additional contrast.
Dimensional lettering stands-off the wall, setting the designs apart from simple, paste-up decals.
High-quality printing shows off fine detail upon closer inspection.
